The Daily Breeze has released its latest rankings for high school girls’ basketball teams, and there have been some major changes since the last update. As the season progresses, these top 10 teams are proving themselves to be the best of the best.
1. Redondo Union (4-0)
Redondo Union remains at the top spot with an undefeated record. Led by senior point guard, Alyssa Munn, the Sea Hawks have dominated their opponents with their strong defense and efficient offense.
2. Bishop Montgomery (3-1)
Bishop Montgomery moves up to the second spot after a strong start to the season. The Knights have a well-rounded team with standout players like senior guard, Kayla Padilla, and junior forward, Khylee Pepe.
3. Serra (3-1)
Serra drops one spot after suffering their first loss of the season to Bishop Montgomery. However, the Cavaliers have a talented roster, including senior guard, Alexis Tucker, and junior forward, Bria Smith, that can bounce back and compete with the top teams.
4. West Torrance (4-0)
West Torrance makes a big jump from the eighth spot to the fourth spot after an impressive start to the season. The Warriors have a strong inside-outside game with senior center, Anaya James, and junior guard, Jasmine Jones.
5. Mira Costa (3-1)
Mira Costa drops one spot after a close loss to West Torrance. The Mustangs have a balanced team with senior guard, Skylar Herdman, and junior forward, Ella Lee, leading the way.
6. Palos Verdes (3-1)
Palos Verdes moves up one spot after a strong start to the season. The Sea Kings have a talented group of players, including senior guard, Samantha Inana, and junior forward, Mia Yamamoto.
7. North Torrance (3-1)
North Torrance drops two spots after suffering their first loss of the season to Palos Verdes. The Saxons have a young team, but with senior guard, Alyssa Munn, leading the way, they have the potential to climb back up the rankings.
8. Peninsula (2-2)
Peninsula stays in the eighth spot after a 2-2 start to the season. The Panthers have a strong backcourt with senior guards, Kellie Yamamoto and Kaitlyn Olah, but will need to improve their defense to move up in the rankings.
9. Narbonne (2-2)
Narbonne moves up one spot after a strong showing in their last game. The Gauchos have a talented roster, including senior guard, Jazmine Johnson, and junior forward, Jazmine Soto, that can compete with the top teams.
10. South Torrance (2-2)
South Torrance drops one spot after a tough loss to Narbonne. The Spartans have a young team, but with senior guard, Kaitlyn Olah, leading the way, they have the potential to climb back up the rankings.
