While sipping on his morning coffee on Saturday, Quebecer Jacques Deschamps checked his Lotto Max tickets and his life was changed.
At first, the man in his 60s from Salaberry-de-Valleyfield thought the displayed prize was $3,500, then $35,000 — but when his spouse checked the ticket she was stunned.
“You won $35 million!” she quipped.

Deschamps then sent a photo of the winning ticket to his son, who was still sleeping.
Impatient, he and his spouse called and told their daughter-in-law to wake him, as exciting news awaited them.
“This is the second time in a matter of weeks that the Lotto Max jackpot has been won in Quebec,” said Isabelle Jean, the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Lottery Games at Loto-Québec.
“At the beginning of June, 15 Trois-Rivieres co-workers split a $20,000,000 jackpot, and this time, a $70,000,000 jackpot was won with two selections sold here, including Mr. Deschamps,” she added.

The second winner hadn’t claimed their prize for the Friday, July 11, draw but on Wednesday Loto-Québec told CityNews that the lucky Quebecer is Wilhelmina Van Leeuwen.
Both were present at a press conference at the Loto-Québec head office today, where they took a photo with their big cheque.
For Deschamps, he wants to spoil his family with the winnings, purchase a condo in Montreal, and hopes to travel to explore the world.
His winning ticket was purchased at the Chanteclerc convenience store in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, which will receive a 1 per cent commission of $350,000.
