A man in his 60s drowned in a public swimming pool in Saint-Hyacinthe, in the Montérégie region, on Wednesday afternoon.
The victim, who has not been identified by authorities, was found unresponsive, said Sûreté du Québec (SQ).
He was pronounced dead at the hospital after unsuccessful resuscitation maneuvers were performed on the individual.

Quebec has experienced up to 37 drownings this year. At this time last year, Quebec had 30 drownings.
Authorities are calling for more caution during water activities, especially on hot days.
