Tragic Sky: Teen Killed as Plane Plummets into Lake Scugog, Durham Police Confirm

A teenage boy has died after he was struck by a plane that crashed on Lake Scugog on Friday afternoon, Durham Regional Police confirm.

It’s not clear if the boy was in the water at the time or on a dock that appeared to be struck.

Two adults who were on the plane survived the crash, which took place near Caesarea at around 12:25 p.m.

“The pilot of the aircraft was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries, and the passenger of the plane also had minor injuries,” police confirmed.

“The Transportation Safety Board of Canada will be attending the scene and taking over the investigation.”

Photos from the scene show the mangled plane upside down resting on a boat that’s tied to a dock.

It’s not yet clear why the plane crashed.

No further details were immediately available.
