The District of Squamish says the Dryden Creek Wildfire was officially extinguished and the region has entered a recovery phase Tuesday.
First reported on June 9, the Dryden Creek fire forced evacuation alerts and evacuation orders of around 100 homes in the Brackendale Neighbourhood. After an assessment of potential rockfall and tree danger in the fire zone, the district rescinded alerts for all properties in early July.
In an update Tuesday, it says the fire is out, and the district is moving on “from the immediate response phase to a more focused recovery phase” for up to 90 days.

It adds that all trails in the fire area have reopened.
According to the BC Wildfire Service, the Dryden Creek Fire reached nearly 60 hectares in size at its biggest. It was suspected to have been human caused.
There are currently 71 active wildfires burning across B.C. Forty-four were declared out in the last week.
The district is reminding Squamish residents and visitors that a campfire ban is in effect, including in provincial parks and campsites.
