Montreal Cracks Down: Police Nab Suspect in Brazen Attempted Murder and Shooting of Young Man

Montreal police (SPVM) have arrested a suspect in connection with an attempted murder of a 30-year-old man by firearm that occurred in the borough of Villeray-Saint-Michel-Parc-Extension, last Monday.

The suspect a 28-year-old man, was arrested on Tuesday in the borough of Côte-des-Neiges–Notre-Dame-de-Grâce (CDN–NDG).

He appeared at the Montreal courthouse Wednesday morning and faces charges of attempted murder, discharging a firearm, possession of a loaded prohibited firearm and aggravated assault.

SPVM were called to Ovila-Légaré Park after gunshots were heard at around 10 p.m., on Pie-IX Blvd., near 47th Street.

When officers arrived at the scene, they located the victim who had gunshot wounds to his upper and lower body.

“He was transported to hospital,” said a SPVM spokesperson, Manuel Couture. “There is no danger for his life.”
