Squamish Search and Rescue Team Tackles Dual Emergencies Within 24 Hours

Squamish Search and Rescue (SAR) crews say they had a hectic 24 hours, responding to a stranded hiker on Stadium Glacier and an injured mountain biker near Elfin Lakes.

Around 12 p.m. on July 22, SAR was called to Stadium Glacier, where a hiker had slipped, lost their ice axe, and was left clinging to the ice-slick wall.

“He made the correct decision to remain in place and request assistance,” SAR said in the Facebook post.

Shortly after, crews received another call to assist an injured mountain biker near Elfin Lakes.

Both individuals were successfully rescued.

SAR thanked Black Tusk Helicopter for assisting in the search and rescue effort by transporting its crews to the scene.
