The agreement in principle reached between Videotron and a union representing 2,500 workers was ratified by members on Wednesday.
This is the Syndicat des employés de Vidéotron, which is a local section of the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), affiliated with the FTQ, more specifically that of the “western region” (SEVL-CUPE 2815).
The union represents technicians, customer service and engineering employees.

Negotiations began even before the end of the current collective agreement, which will not expire until Dec. 31. The new five-year collective agreement will therefore be in effect from 2026 to 2030.
The new collective agreement provides for annual salary increases of 4 per cent for each of the first three years.
For the fourth year, the salary increase will correspond to the consumer price index, with a floor of 2 per cent and a ceiling of 3 per cent. For the fifth year, the salary increase will be 3 per cent.
The negotiating committee recommended that members ratify the tentative agreement, which the union said was “satisfactory to both parties.”
“We have obtained significant salary increases, better vacation ratios as well as improvements to sick and personal leave,” said SEVL-CUPE 2815 President Roger Boudreau in a press release.
“Negotiation and dialogue produce results when the parties act in good faith,” he argued.
Videotron wanted to praise “the quality of the dialogue established between the parties, marked by mutual respect, a spirit of collaboration and remarkable professionalism.”
“This agreement will allow us to continue to innovate and offer exceptional service to our customers, while strengthening our leadership position and maintaining working conditions among the best in the industry for our employees,” said Quebecor President and CEO Pierre Karl Péladeau in writing.
Union members voted 97 per cent in favour of an early bargaining mandate.
