A gathering of people on Île Charron in Longueuil overnight from Thursday to Friday, led to an armed assault and shots being fired.
The circumstances that led to these events, which occurred around midnight, are the subject of an investigation by the Longueuil Police (SPAL), which has already made arrests.
So far, police say that a man in his 20s was seriously injured in the upper body due to a stabbing. He was taken to hospital, but medical officials do not believe his life is in danger.
At the scene, police arrested seven people. Two men in their 20s were formally arrested. They remained in custody Friday morning and will be interviewed by investigators later today.
Two vehicles, identified as being involved in the event, were intercepted by SPAL agents.
