A 79-year-old man lost his life after capsizing in his kayak on Lake Long in Bolton-Est, in the Eastern Townships.
Emergency services were called at around 1:45 p.m. on Saturday to the lake near Kates Road after the septuagenarian failed to return from his boating trip.
A search was then conducted along the shores and on the lake to locate the victim, explained Sergeant Frédéric Deshaies, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).
Provincial police divers finally located the victim’s body on Sunday morning in the area where he had capsized.
