Authorities Urge Public Help to Catch Thief Who Targeted Elderly Woman in Vancouver Robbery

Vancouver police are investigating after an 84-year-old woman was allegedly robbed downtown Sunday morning.

Police say the victim was standing near the intersection of Homer Street and West Pender Street around 11:30 a.m. when a man and a woman approached.

She alleges the pair accused her of stealing from them, then one suspect took the woman’s cane, and the other tried to grab her purse.

“The senior held on to the purse until another person intervened,” said the VPD in a release Tuesday.

The department has released images of the suspects walking past a CCTV camera.

One suspect is described as a woman with long dark hair and tattoos on her arms. She was wearing a brown t-shirt with a logo on the front, and black pants at the time.

The other is described as a man with long brown hair. He was wearing a grey t-shirt, and grey pants.

They were last seen walking north on Homer Street.

The VPD is asking anyone who saw what happened — including the bystander who intervened — to get in touch.
