The Lower Mainland’s homicide investigators have taken over from Abbotsford police after the suspicious death of a patient at a senior care home earlier this month.
Last week, Sgt. Paul Walker of the Abbotsford Police Department (AbbyPD) told 1130 News that two patients from Menno Home on Brundige Avenue were transported to Abbotsford Regional Hospital.
“Both individuals were experiencing medical emergencies that raised concerns due to their suspicious nature,” Walker said.
The two were taken to hospital on July 6. One of the two patients died four days later on July 10.
In an update Tuesday, AbbyPD said the case has been taken over by the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT).

Menno Home CEO Sujata Connors says the organization has been informed about the transition.
“I am deeply saddened by this situation,” said Connors in a video update Tuesday.
She says residents and families should be confident that the safety of residents is Menno Home’s highest priority, and there is no ongoing safety concern.
“We continue to fully support the police investigation and will continue to do so as the investigation evolves. We are doing everything we can to assist them in bringing clarity, answers and resolution,” said Connors.
Menno Home is owned by the Mennonite Benevolent Society.
