A motorcyclist was killed early Thursday morning in a crash along Highway 11 near Townshipline Road in Abbotsford.
The Abbotsford Police Department says at around 1:34 a.m., officers responded to the crash between the motorcycle rider and a Jeep Compass.
“Upon arrival, emergency personnel located a heavily damaged Kawasaki motorcycle,” Sgt. Paul Walker said.
“Despite the efforts of first responders, the motorcyclist succumbed to their injuries at the scene. The driver of the Jeep sustained non-life-threatening injuries and received medical treatment,” Walker added.
Police believe alcohol and speed are contributing factors in the fatal crash.
Northbound Highway 11 remains closed between Clayburn Road and Harris Road, as police investigate the collision. Walker says it is anticipated to reopen by 9 a.m.
Anyone who saw the crash or who may have dashcam footage of the area early Thursday is being urged to contact the AbbyPD at 604-859-5225.
