“Quebec Heeds Alberta’s Call for Help, Dispatches 40 Firefighters to Battle Raging Forest Infernos”

Quebec will send 40 firefighters to Alberta in the coming days to fight forest fires in the province.

Forest firefighters, along with two representatives of the Society for the Protection of Forests Against Fire (SOPFEU), will leave for the province this Saturday, the company announced on Thursday.

Quebec had already deployed 40 other firefighters to Saskatchewan on July 24, as fires continue to rage from Manitoba to British Columbia.

SOPFEU indicates that the current situation in Quebec, particularly the recent rains and humidity levels, allows it to help its partners “without harming its capacity to intervene in Quebec.”

According to the latest data from the Alberta government, there are currently 54 fires burning in the province, 13 of which are out of control.
