“Charged Up: Tesla Driver Faces Legal Consequences After Power Pole Crash in Abbotsford”

A 21-year-old driver is facing charges after crashing his Tesla into a power pole in Abbotsford early Friday morning.

The Abbotsford Police Department says officers spotted the car speeding along Bourquin Crescent West from Mill Lake Road just after midnight.

Moments later, officers came upon the crash along George Ferguson Way.

“The 21-year-old driver was arrested at the scene for Dangerous Driving and is now facing a court date. Two passengers were detained but later released. Fortunately, no injuries were reported,” the AbbyPD said in a statement.

The crash left over 600 residents without power, police say. BC Hydro crews are working to restore service to their customers.

“So far this year, AbbyPD officers have removed 282 excessive speeders from Abbotsford roads,” the police department said.
