Vandals Strike: TVA and Le Journal de Montréal Offices Targeted in Coordinated Attack

The Québecor offices located on Frontenac Street in Montreal, which house, among other things, the TVA studios and the offices of Le Journal de Montréal, were vandalized Thursday evening.

According to the Montreal Police (SPVM), suspects broke into the building located at 4545 Frontenac Street around 10 p.m., committing a series of crimes.

“Suspects smashed the glass front door and windows of the building. They also threw paint at the building,” said officer Caroline Chèvrefils, spokesperson for the SPVM.

Québecor media employees were still on the scene at the time of the incident, but no one was injured, Montreal police said.

Some witnesses were interviewed by SPVM investigators, who also viewed images captured by surveillance cameras.

As of Friday morning, the SPVM was unable to say how many suspects had entered the building. The suspects fled before police arrived and had still not been arrested by early afternoon.

“The crime scene has been secured for investigators and forensic technicians so they can all analyze the scene and try to understand the exact circumstances of this event,” added Chèvrefils.

In addition to being the headquarters of Le Journal de Montréal, 4545 Frontenac Street has been home for several months to all of Québecor’s traditional and digital news media teams, including TVA and LCN.
