Montreal police (SPVM), in collaboration with the Sûreté du Québec and the Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu Police, arrested a suspect in connection with the murder of a 52-year-old man in the Montreal borough of Saint-Léonard on Sunday.
The suspect is a 32-year-old man and was arrested early Friday morning by police forces in Longueuil.
A 911 call came in on Sunday at around 4 a.m., alerting emergency services about an unconscious man on Lacordaire Blvd., near the intersection on Jarry Street.

Upon arrival at the scene, police located a man with an upper body injury, possibly caused by a sharp object.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene despite resuscitation attempts.
SPVM confirmed that it was a murder, although the circumstances were still unknown.
A search was also carried out inside a residence in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu.
The suspect is expected to appear at the Montreal courthouse by Friday afternoon.
This is the 23rd murder in Montreal in 2025.
Police also reported that a break-in occurred on Sunday morning around 4:30 a.m. at a residence near the murder scene.
Shortly after, a 31-year-old suspect was arrested near the scene in connection with the break-in. The criminal investigation is continuing to determine if this second individual was also involved in murdering the 52-year-old man.
“The break-in could possibly be linked to the murder, but it is still too early to confirm this connection,” said Caroline Chèvrefils, spokesperson for the SPVM.
