On Aug. 2, 2024, police received a report of an assault on City Parkway near 102 Avenue just after 1 p.m.

When they arrived, they found the victim suffering from serious burns allegedly resulting from the suspect throwing an accelerant on him and lighting him on fire.

Less than a week later, police identified the suspect as 33-year-old Kalid Yimer.
