“Pride Parade Sweeps Through Downtown, Expect Major Traffic Shifts This Sunday!”

The Vancouver Pride Parade is set to take over parts of downtown Sunday, with 100,000 people expected to attend.

On top of increased traffic, there are other closures to be aware of:

The parade itself runs from 1 p.m. until 3:30 p.m., with a celebration at the Davie Village Pride Festival from 2 p.m. until 10 p.m.

The closures are in place from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Expect delays after the streets reopen as traffic clears up.

The Vancouver Police Department says it has boosted security around the event.

“We will have extra officers deployed along the parade route to assist with traffic control and respond to any issues that arise,” Const. Tania Visintin told 1130 NewsRadio.

The Vancouver Pride Parade has been around since 1978. The parade and the events afterwards are a celebration of the pride of the 2SLGBTQAI+ community, and are open to all.
