“Backpack Bonanza: West Island Mission Fuels Back-to-School Excitement with Generous Giveaway for Montreal Kids!”

With another school year right around the corner, the West Island Mission hosted its annual back-to-school event on Thursday, donating backpacks to Montreal children and creating a joyful day for the community.

Registered clients and their children receive backpacks filled with essential supplies.

There was also a BBQ lunch and activities designed for kids of all ages.

“Back-to-school time can be stressful for families, and our goal is to make it a joyful, worry-free day,” said Suzanne Scarrow, Executive Director of West Island Mission. “With the help of our incredible volunteers and donors, we can ensure children start the school year feeling confident and supported.”

Children also had the chance to choose books from the food bank’s “used book store” and enter raffles for special prizes.

“Helping local children start the school year with the tools they need to succeed,” the West Island Mission said in a press release. “The back-to-school event is part of the WIM’s ongoing mission to serve the community with dignity, compassion, and practical support.”
