Police Probing Mysterious Blaze at Local Business: A Deeper Look into Monday’s Suspicious Fire

The New Westminster Police Department’s (NWPD) Major Crime Unit says it is investigating a suspicious fire in a business earlier this week.

The blaze started shortly after 2:30 a.m. on Monday, police say. The business was unoccupied and sustained extensive damage.

Police say they are working with New Westminster Fire and Rescue and are asking the public for help with their investigation.

“Investigators are seeking more information on a red van that was seen leaving the area,” said media relations officer Sgt. Andrew Leaver.

“If you have any information about that van, including CCTV or dash cam footage of it in the 12th Street area, we encourage you to reach out to us.”

Businesses and residents in the area are asked to check footage between 2 a.m. and 4 a.m. on Aug. 11 for evidence that may help with the investigation.

Anyone with information or video is asked to call the Major Crime Unit tip line at 604-529-2330 or email mcucrimetips@nwpolice.org.
