Montreal authorities are currently probing a suspected arson incident that occurred in the Mercier–Hochelaga-Maisonneuve borough in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Caroline Chèvrefils, spokesperson for the Montreal police, informed that officers responded to a call at approximately 3 a.m. to aid the Montreal fire department in extinguishing a fire that started near a door on Languedoc Ave., close to Blvd. Rosemont.
Firefighters promptly managed to bring the blaze under control, though it resulted in damage to the outdoor doors of two apartment units. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
Further examination of the scene revealed the presence of an incendiary object, potentially linked to the fire’s ignition, as per Chèvrefils.
The individuals responsible for the incident had absconded prior to the arrival of law enforcement. The number of suspects involved remains unclear at this time, and no arrests have been conducted.
Authorities from the arson unit will conduct a thorough investigation at the site to evaluate the gathered evidence, with the ongoing inquiry seeking to uncover more details surrounding the case.
