Ontario Man Slapped With Fine for Overstaying and Trashing Crown Land

A man from North Bay has been fined $2,500 by Ontario’s Ministry of Natural Resources for unlawfully camping on Crown land and leaving behind trash over the summer.

The individual exceeded the authorized 21-day camping limit in Stewart Township in northeastern Ontario, as reported by conservation officers who discovered garbage scattered near the man’s trailer.

The 21-day restriction on Crown land is implemented to ensure fair access for all campers and to reduce environmental impact.

The man’s case was brought before a judge in April 2025, according to a ministry news release.
