A Pickering resident, identified as Azmat, is facing payment issues after working during the federal election held in April. Along with his wife, Azmat volunteered to work during the election, eager to contribute to their community and gain insight into the electoral process.
Despite successfully completing training and working diligently for over 12 hours on election day, Azmat and his wife have yet to receive their payment. While their fellow election workers were paid promptly, the couple found themselves in a frustrating situation where their payment seemed to have gone missing.
After reaching out to Elections Canada, Azmat was informed that the payment had been deposited into a bank account, contrary to their preference for receiving physical checks. Despite his efforts to resolve the issue and request a trace of the funds, no concrete answers have been provided by Elections Canada.
Despite repeated attempts to seek clarification and resolution, Azmat and his wife are still waiting for their payment. While Azmat emphasizes that his primary concern is not just the money but the need for Elections Canada to review and improve their payment processes to prevent similar issues in the future.
