Elizabeth May, the leader of the Green Party, has announced that she will not lead the party into the upcoming election. However, she plans to continue serving as a Member of Parliament and party leader until a new leader is chosen.
In a message addressed to party members, May expressed her commitment to expanding the party’s presence in parliament while prioritizing key issues such as the climate crisis, affordability, and global justice and peace efforts in conflict zones.
She assured members that they will receive information soon regarding a leadership review process and how they can participate in the selection of a new leader or co-leaders.
May has made it clear that she intends to step down once her successor is elected, as she currently stands as the sole Green Party representative in the House of Commons following the recent federal election.
