A 14-year-old boy has been apprehended by Toronto police for his involvement in a string of retail robberies that occurred earlier this summer. According to authorities, between July 9 and July 13, there were eight separate robbery incidents reported in various parts of the city. The modus operandi involved masked individuals arriving in a stolen vehicle, entering retail establishments, and intimidating staff members into surrendering electronics. The perpetrators made off with multiple cellphones and cash before fleeing the scene.
After a thorough investigation, a male youth hailing from Toronto was identified and taken into custody. He is now facing charges that include eight counts of robbery with a weapon, four counts of possessing stolen goods valued at over $5,000, and five counts of wearing a disguise with criminal intent.
The youth made an appearance in court on Wednesday morning, with his identity protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
