Burnaby RCMP warn public after woman allegedly groped in Central Park

Mounties in Burnaby say they are issuing a warning after a woman was allegedly groped by a man in Central Park Wednesday.

Police say the woman had been walking alone on the trails shortly before 7:30 p.m. when she was approached by a stranger.

The man made inappropriate sexual contact with the woman and then ran away to another area of the park, the Burnaby RCMP said.

The woman was uninjured and reported the incident to police immediately. The victim and suspect did not know each other.

“Our investigative teams are actively working to identify the suspect in this incident,” said Supt. Sunny Parmar.

“We have engaged our Community Response and Bike Teams for enhanced patrols in the area.”

The suspect is described as being around 35 to 45 years old and approximately 5’6″ with a slim build, brown eyes, and no facial hair. He was wearing a white hoodie, black shorts, and a multicoloured windbreaker.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or who has information about the suspect is asked to call the Burnaby RCMP at 604-646-9999 and refer to file 2025-29345.
