A woman represented by Lambert Avocats has filed a class action lawsuit against Nordik Spa Village following a visit in December 2024.
In a press release about the lawsuit, it states that a woman visited the spa on Dec. 2, 2024 and purchased a massage. She alleged that during the treatment, she was sexually assaulted.
The suit claims the spa was aware of the alleged sexual assault but the establishment (Nordik Spa Village Chelsea) “omitted to take the necessary measures to prevent or cease this abuse, thus directly engaging it’s responsibility in the matter.”
The class action is seeking “compensatory damages for the harms caused by sexual assault committed in the course of a massage at Nordik Spa.”
It further states that other clients have been alleged victims of sexual assault by massage therapists at the spa. Those individuals are included in the class action suit.
In a statement sent to CityNews, Nordik Spa Village would not comment on the specifics in the lawsuit at this time. “It is our policy to cooperate fully with authorities whenever allegations are brought to our attention.”
“Nordik Spa Village Chelsea does not tolerate any misconduct or inappropriate behaviour on the part of the massage therapists practicing in our spa. All therapists are subject to rigorous screening at the onset, including a criminal background check. We also conduct audits throughout their time at the spa.”
“For now, we would like to reassure the public about the rigour of our internal controls and our lack of tolerance for any behaviour that compromises the safety or trust of our guests.”
