The man charged with 11 counts of second-degree murder in connection with the deadly Lapu-Lapu Day attack in Vancouver is expected back in court Friday morning.
The appearance will mark the third as part of a mental fitness hearing for 30-year-old Adam Kai-Ji Lo.
Hearings began late last month, with the court working to determine if Lo is mentally fit to stand trial, but it’s still unclear when the judge will deliver an official ruling.

Meanwhile, a media consortium is challenging a publication ban on the hearings, meaning media can’t report or broadcast any evidence brought forward until the end of a criminal trial, or if the ban is lifted.
The consortium is arguing for public transparency, while Lo’s defence team oppose lifting the ban, claiming it’s in place for Lo’s right to a fair trial.
Eleven people were killed and more than 24 others were hurt in the attack on the Filipino street festival on April 26. Six people remain in hospital for their injuries.
Earlier this week, the memorial for the victims of the attack was moved to a permanent location at Mountain View Cemetery.
