A 57-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a series of nighttime break-ins and thefts that took place in Westmount and surrounding neighbourhoods between April and Aug. 2025.
According to the Montreal police (SPVM), the suspect is believed to be linked to around 20 incidents involving break and enters and thefts, most of which occurred inside private homes. In many cases, the residents were inside at the time.
Police say the suspect allegedly entered the targeted homes by forcing open windows or doors that weren’t already unlocked or open. Once inside, he reportedly stole accessories, bank cards and cash before fleeing.
The suspect was caught in the act Aug. 14 and arrested. Investigators were able to connect him to multiple similar events through collected evidence.
Local patrol officers from station 12, which covers Ville-Marie West and Westmount, worked closely with the investigation team.
Following his arrest, the man appeared in court at the Montreal courthouse. He faces multiple charges of breaking and entering and attempted breaking and entering.
The criminal investigation is ongoing to determine whether the suspect is linked to other similar incidents.
