Mounties say they are investigating a suspicious death after human remains were found inside a burned vehicle north of Kamloops.
On Saturday, officers responded to a report of a vehicle fire on Tranquille-Criss Creek Road. When they arrived, they found human remains inside the vehicle, which is believed to be a stolen black 2019 Volkswagen Golf.
The investigation has been turned over to the BC RCMP Southeast District Major Crime Unit (MCU).
“MCU investigators are looking for public assistance in determining the circumstances that led to the vehicle fire and death,” said Staff Sgt. Jason Smart.
“If you have any information regarding the black 2019 Volkswagen Golf, dashcam footage, or video surveillance in the area of Tranquille-Criss Creek Road between 3 p.m. on Aug. 22 and 7 a.m. on Aug. 23, 2025, please contact the RCMP.”
