Police investigate shots fired at Surrey business

Surrey Police Service (SPS) is investigating an incident where shots were fired at a business, leaving damage to the travel agency.

Shortly after 9:30 a.m. Monday, officers responded to a call of possible mischief or attempted break in at a businesses in the 12800 block of 80 Ave. CityNews confirmed the business was the travel agency Sidhu Travels.

Upon arrival, officers concluded the damage to the door of the business was the result of several shots fired. No injuries were reported.

SPS Frontline Investigative Support Team is in charge of the investigation. Officers remain on scene to examine and secure evidence. A release from SPS says officers will likely be canvassing the neighbourhood for any CCTV footage. Officers believe the incident took place between Saturday and Monday.

SPS told CityNews the crime is believed to be extortion related.

The business owner declined the opportunity to speak with CityNews saying he is in shock.
