A recent incident in Mississauga involved a foiled kidnapping attempt back in June, resulting in the arrest of one suspect with two others still at large.
In the late hours of June 24, two young women were walking near Britannia Road West and Queen Street South when three masked men approached them. The men allegedly tried to lead the women towards a light-coloured Audi SUV, with reports indicating that one of the suspects may have been armed with a gun while another brandished a knife.
Fortunately, a bystander stepped in to help, causing the suspects to flee in the Audi. Thankfully, the victims were not physically harmed during the ordeal.
Waleed Khan, 26, from Etobicoke, was apprehended on August 18 in connection to the incident. He faces a total of 33 charges related to kidnapping, firearms, auto theft, and more. A search of Khan’s residence yielded two loaded prohibited firearms, including an AR-style rifle capable of automatic fire and a pistol, both equipped with high-capacity magazines, along with over 110 rounds of ammunition.
Despite being on probation for previous violent offenses and being prohibited from possessing firearms, Khan was released on bail with an ankle monitor.
The two other suspects, described as males in their late teens to mid-twenties with medium builds, are still being sought by authorities. Additionally, the suspect vehicle, the light-coloured Audi SUV, has not yet been located.
