François Legault Expresses Strong Displeasure with SAAQclic: “I Don’t Like What I’m Hearing”

Premier François Legault expressed his concerns about the ongoing revelations in the SAAQclic case as the Gallant Commission gathered more testimonies. Emphasizing the significance of transparency, Legault stated that it was crucial for Quebec residents to have a clear understanding of the situation. He is set to provide his testimony before the commission next week.

In addition to Legault, his chief of staff, Martin Koskinen, and the former Secretary General of the Executive Council, Yves Ouellet, are also scheduled to appear before the committee. Despite remaining mostly in the background, Koskinen briefly shared his belief with journalists that “the truth always triumphs in the end” before heading into the National Assembly.

Recent revelations have raised questions about the Premier’s office being informed of issues regarding the SAAQ’s IT project as far back as 2020. Allegations of a significant budget shortfall in the development of the SAAQclic platform have also come to light.

Meanwhile, Minister of Transport Geneviève Guilbault’s testimony unveiled emails concerning cost overruns that involved Legault and Koskinen. Guilbault defended herself by asserting her commitment to honesty and transparency, stating that she would never deceive the people of Quebec.

The ongoing testimonies, including those of former Minister of Cybersecurity and Digital Affairs Éric Caire, shed light on the complexities surrounding the SAAQclic case and the efforts to uncover the truth.
