“Salmonella Scare Widens: Massive Recall Hits Pistachio Products Across the Board!”

Canada is issuing a recall on over 25 products containing pistachios due to potential salmonella contamination. The recall follows an investigation initiated earlier this month after reports of illnesses.

The Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) has been investigating a salmonella outbreak connected to various pistachio brands and products. Between March and early August 2025, 62 cases of salmonella have been linked to this outbreak, with at least 10 individuals requiring hospitalization. However, health officials believe the actual number of cases in Canada is likely higher, as many individuals with mild symptoms may not seek medical attention or testing.

Recalls have been issued for pistachio products distributed in Ontario, British Columbia, Quebec, and New Brunswick. Recently, 27 products sold in Ottawa from Pistachio Choco and La Brioche have been included in the recall.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is actively investigating food safety concerns and may expand the recall to include additional products. Consumers are reminded that salmonella-contaminated food may not show visible signs of spoilage but can cause illness. Symptoms can range from short-term discomfort like fever, headache, vomiting, and diarrhea to more severe complications such as arthritis.

Individuals who have purchased any of the recalled products are advised to either dispose of them properly or return them to the store where they were bought.
