A tragic incident occurred at a summer carnival in Prince Rupert, where a worker was discovered unconscious near a ride and later pronounced dead.
According to the authorities, Mounties received a report of an injured man at the carnival around 10:40 p.m. on Tuesday. The RCMP is collaborating with WorkSafeBC and the BC Coroners Service to investigate the matter.
Technical Safety BC, an independent organization responsible for overseeing the installation and operation of certain equipment in the region, released a statement confirming their involvement in the investigation related to the incident involving a popular Zipper ride.
Shooting Star Amusements, the organization behind the carnival, expressed deep sorrow in a Facebook post, revealing that the deceased individual was not only a colleague but also a cherished friend and a remarkable person.
In response to the tragedy, the city of Prince Rupert expressed profound sadness on social media and offered counseling services to those impacted by the unfortunate event.
The carnival, operated by Mission-based Shooting Star Amusements, announced that it will remain closed until at least Thursday and will provide refunds for all-day ride passes that were pre-purchased.
