“Motorcycle-Vehicle Collision in Mission Under Investigation by IIO”

An investigation is underway by British Columbia’s police watchdog following an incident in Mission earlier this week. The Independent Investigations Office (IIO) is looking into the events that unfolded on Aug. 24 when the RCMP conducted a routine traffic stop on a white 2017 Ford Focus on Hurd Street near Sandpiper Place at around 1 p.m.

Following the traffic stop, the driver of the vehicle made a U-turn and was subsequently involved in a collision with a motorcycle, resulting in serious injuries to the motorcyclist. Emergency services swiftly responded to the scene, providing necessary aid before the injured individual was transported to a hospital for further treatment.

Authorities have stated that impairment is not suspected to have played a role in the incident. The IIO steps in to investigate any police-related occurrences that lead to significant harm or fatalities, regardless of any initial allegations.
