“Ex-NFL Star Darryl ‘Buster’ Skrine Captured in Georgia Amid International Financial Fraud Manhunt”

Retired NFL Player Arrested in Multi-State Financial Fraud Case

Former NFL player Darryl “Buster” Skrine, 36, has been arrested in Georgia on 18 charges linked to an alleged multi-state financial fraud operation. Skrine, known for his time with the Cleveland Browns, New York Jets, and Chicago Bears during an 11-season career, was taken into custody by Roswell Police without incident at a residence on Pine Grove Road.

Authorities accuse Skrine of orchestrating an intricate financial fraud scheme that targeted women nationwide. The investigation started in July after a victim reported being exploited financially by Skrine. It is alleged that Skrine used online dating platforms to establish relationships with women and then manipulated them into sending money under false pretenses of financial hardship, promising repayment through his NFL annuity. Instead, the funds were allegedly used for a luxurious lifestyle that included travel, Airbnb rentals, and gift card purchases.

The authorities have identified three victims in Wisconsin, North Carolina, and New York, with a total financial loss of around $300,000. The investigation is ongoing, with concerns of more potential victims coming to light.

In addition to the charges in Georgia, Skrine is also wanted in Canada by the Durham Regional Police Service for his involvement in a $100,000 check fraud scheme. Skrine was previously arrested at Toronto Pearson International Airport but later breached his release conditions by removing his GPS monitor and fleeing the country.

DRPS is collaborating with Roswell Police to ensure Skrine is held accountable for all charges in both jurisdictions, as the investigation continues to develop.
