A 17-year-old boy accused of planning an attack linked to the Islamic State has been charged with assaulting a peace officer. The incident allegedly took place at the RCMP headquarters in Westmount, Quebec, following the teen’s arrest on August 20. The officer reportedly suffered bodily harm during the altercation.
The teenager, whose identity is protected due to being a minor, is also facing charges related to providing support for terrorist activities and being involved with a terrorist group. He made a recent court appearance dressed in a white shirt and accompanied by security personnel.
The Crown has opposed his release, and the next court date is scheduled for September 12.
