Chaos Unfolds: Coquitlam Man Seized Following Gunfire and Dramatic Car Crash in Burnaby

A 44-year-old man from Coquitlam was apprehended after a series of dramatic events unfolded in South Burnaby last Friday, including reports of a shooting and a three-vehicle collision.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) responded to a disturbance call at Inman Avenue and Price Street around 10:30 p.m., where they encountered a white sedan linked to the incident. The sedan fled the scene, and law enforcement did not initiate a pursuit.

Shortly after, at Wilma Street and Salisbury Avenue, gunfire was reported, followed by a three-car crash at Edmonds Street and Griffiths Drive. The white sedan involved in the collision matched the earlier description, but the driver was nowhere to be found.

Approximately an hour later, a man believed to be connected to the sedan was spotted on a residential complex roof near the shooting scene. Due to safety concerns, the police established a containment perimeter and evacuated residents from the building.

By 1:30 a.m., the suspect was successfully arrested without any further issues. The RCMP assured the public that there is no ongoing threat.
