Island Fête, a vibrant celebration of Caribbean culture and local artistry, returns to Montreal’s West Island for its third year, promising even more excitement and fun.
This year, the event boasts an expanded lineup of performances, an array of food vendors, and the exciting addition of food trucks. Island Fête is a lively gathering that honors Caribbean cuisine, Black culture, and showcases the talents of local artists.
One enthusiastic attendee shared, “I love the Caribbean. I’ve visited most of the islands, and it’s a refreshing escape to enjoy life and immerse myself in something new.”
Co-founder of Island Fête and executive director of Overture with the Arts, Akilah Newton, highlighted the family-friendly nature of the event, stating, “We have food vendors, bouncy castles, face painting, and a variety of activities for all ages. This year, we have extended the festivities to two days, so come join us at Pointe Claire Plaza on Sunday as well. We’ll be here from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday and from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.”
After two successful years in Pierrefonds, Island Fête has found a new home at Plaza Pointe-Claire, where attendees can groove to the beats of calypso, soca, and reggae throughout the weekend.
The event serves as a fundraiser for Overture with the Arts, a non-profit organization in Montreal dedicated to providing accessible arts education to young people. Donations are encouraged at the entrance, and there will be a 50-50 raffle to further support the cause, as Newton expressed, “Any support you can offer is greatly appreciated.”
