The SAAQ board of directors has approved the release of confidential information, such as legal advice and opinions, to aid the Gallant Commission in its investigation into the funding of SAAQclic. This decision allows investigators from the Autorité des marchés publics and the Unité permanente anticorruption to access the relevant details.
Chairperson Dominique Savoie emphasized the commitment to uncovering the truth, stating, “We are dedicated to seeking the truth, and both the interim president and CEO and the board acted promptly upon learning about the document access issue.”
The digital transformation of the Quebec auto insurance board, including the SAAQclic platform, is estimated to cost over $1.1 billion, as reported by the Quebec Auditor General. Originally budgeted at $638 million in 2017, the project has seen a significant increase in costs.
Premier François Legault is set to provide testimony before the commission on Tuesday, further adding to the ongoing investigation.
