The Ridge Meadows RCMP is currently conducting an investigation into a tragic incident that took place in Maple Ridge on Saturday evening. A pedestrian was involved in a fatal collision with a vehicle, prompting a swift response from officers who were alerted near Lougheed Highway close to 203rd Street around 11 p.m.
Constable Tisha Parsons provided details, stating that initial findings indicated the pedestrian had been hit by the vehicle. Quick action was taken by attending police officers to provide first-aid to the injured man, with additional support from Maple Ridge Fire Rescue and Emergency Health Services at the scene.
Despite efforts to save him, the man succumbed to his injuries after being transported to the hospital. The Serious Crimes Unit, along with the Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service, have also been tasked with investigating the incident.
Authorities are urging anyone who may have witnessed the event or possesses dashcam footage from the vicinity to come forward and assist in the investigation by contacting the Ridge Meadows RCMP at 604-463-6251.
