An 81-year-old man tragically passed away after being struck by a car in Vancouver on Monday morning.
The incident took place shortly after 4:30 a.m. as the pedestrian was crossing Southeast Marine Drive close to Borden Street.
According to the Vancouver Police Department (VPD), the man was hit by a grey Audi Q3 moving west on Southeast Marine Drive. Despite prompt life-saving efforts, the man succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
The driver of the Audi stayed at the location, cooperating with authorities.
Authorities have ruled out speed or impairment as factors in the collision.
In response to the incident, officers from the VPD’s Collision Investigation Unit are currently gathering evidence.
