Five individuals were swiftly taken to a hospital in the early hours of Monday after a residential fire broke out in Richmond Hill, as confirmed by local authorities.
York Regional Police disclosed that the incident occurred in the vicinity of Skywood Drive and Rollinghill Road around 3:15 a.m.
Upon arrival at the scene, paramedics evaluated the five persons involved and promptly transported them to a medical facility for necessary care. Reports indicated that four of these individuals were in critical condition as they were discovered unresponsive.
In the aftermath of the fire, roads in the surrounding area have been closed to facilitate firefighting operations.
