Three young individuals are in hot water after a recent incident on Highway 401 near Jane Street led Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers to uncover a loaded firearm and drugs during a traffic stop.
The dramatic turn of events began when authorities noticed a vehicle being driven recklessly. Instead of pulling over, the driver attempted to evade the police, sparking a brief chase. Eventually, the vehicle stopped, but not before the officer spotted the driver and a passenger swapping seats.
The trio, consisting of a 17-year-old male, an 18-year-old male, and an 18-year-old female, was swiftly apprehended. A search of the vehicle revealed a loaded firearm and an undisclosed quantity of drugs.
Further investigation revealed that both male suspects were already on bail for previous firearm-related offenses, making their arrest a violation of their bail conditions, according to police.
Facing a slew of weapons-related charges, the three individuals are now awaiting a bail hearing. Due to the age of one of the suspects, their names have not been disclosed by the OPP.
