Hampstead Elementary Marks a Century of Shaping Futures: Celebrating 100 Years of Educational Excellence

Hampstead Elementary celebrates its centennial as students return to class on Tuesday morning, marking a milestone event for the school. Established in 1925 to cater to children from the town of Hampstead, the school has evolved over the years to embrace a diverse student body while remaining a cherished part of the community.

To commemorate this special occasion, a celebratory event will be held, graced by notable figures such as EMSB chair Joe Ortona, Liberal MNA Elisabeth Prass, and Mount Royal MP Anthony Housefather, alongside members of the Hampstead town council and current students. The event is expected to be attended by distinguished alumni, including Concordia University Chancellor Jonathan Wener and Côte Saint-Luc city councillor Andee Shuster, who credit the school for providing a solid foundation for their future endeavors.

Reflecting on their time at Hampstead Elementary, Wener expressed gratitude for the quality education and supportive environment that helped shape his path, while Shuster fondly recalled the impact of her Grade 5 teacher, highlighting the lasting memories and sense of comfort instilled during her time at the school.

The English Montreal School Board, established in 1998, now oversees a network of 73 schools and centers, serving over 35,000 students. The centennial celebration not only signifies a century of educational excellence and community engagement but also underscores the enduring influence of the school on multiple generations of students.
