The Toronto Maple Leafs have secured the future of one of their rising young stars by signing goaltender Dennis Hildeby to a three-year contract extension, the team confirmed on Tuesday.
Hildeby’s new deal includes a two-way contract for the seasons 2025-26 and 2026-27, transitioning to a one-way contract in 2027-28, with an average annual value of $841,667.
The talented Swedish goalie showcased his skills with the Toronto Marlies, playing in 30 regular-season games and boasting a solid 16-9-4 record, a 2.55 goals-against average, a .908 save percentage, and securing two shutouts. He also made a brief playoff appearance, stepping onto the ice for one Calder Cup game.
During his call-up to the Maple Leafs, Hildeby started six games, ending with a 3-3-0 record, a 3.33 goals-against average, and a .878 save percentage.
Hildeby’s impressive track record includes 73 regular-season AHL games, where he excelled with a 37-21-11 record, a 2.53 goals-against average, a .909 save percentage, and six shutouts.
Originally from Järfälla, Sweden, Hildeby was drafted by Toronto in the fourth round (122nd overall) of the 2022 NHL Draft.
