Firefighters Quench Flames at Port Moody Liquor Store in Dramatic Late-Night Battle

Firefighters from Port Moody Fire Rescue swiftly tackled a blaze that erupted at the Port Moody Liquor Store in the early hours of Wednesday morning. The fire, which engulfed the business in flames, was contained to one unit, resulting in minor damage to surrounding areas. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and an investigation into the cause of the fire is currently underway.

Port Moody Fire Chief Darcey O’Riordan praised the quick response of the 22-member firefighting team that arrived at the scene after receiving reports of the fire at 1:30 a.m. St Johns Street, where the liquor store is located, had temporary closures in place as crews worked to control the situation. The street gradually reopened for traffic, with TransLink announcing the resumption of westbound lanes at 5 a.m. and the cancellation of transit detours.
