Heroic Rescue: Young Child Saved from Near-Drowning in Surrey Pool

A potentially tragic incident was averted in Surrey as quick actions by lifeguards at the city’s Sport and Leisure Complex saved an unconscious child from drowning in a 50-meter pool on Monday.

The parks, recreation, and culture department in Surrey commended the lifeguards for their prompt response, administering CPR that successfully revived the child.

Subsequently, the child was swiftly taken to the hospital by paramedics who arrived at the scene.

According to BC Emergency Health Services (BCEHS) spokesperson Bowen Osoko, two ambulances with a team of Primary Care Paramedics and a Paramedic Specialist were dispatched, with onsite staff providing crucial first aid support.

The child’s condition was reported as “serious, but stable” by BCHES officials.

In response to the incident, the aquatics center was temporarily shut down by city authorities but resumed operations at 5 p.m.
